The energy system is undergoing a significant transformation, shifting towards a cyber-physical system of systems driven by factors like the integration of renewable energy sources and the digitalisation of energy services. This evolution introduces increased complexity, necessitating an enhanced development process that integrates diverse team competencies. This work focuses on introducing a model-based, service-oriented, and cooperative development and validation platform tailored for smart grid automation applications. The objective is to establish an architecture for an interoperable, distributed, and service-oriented ecosystem that delivers modular services to collaborative development teams throughout the entire life cycle of applications. The related platform facilitates the management of engineering data crucial for achieving a continuous, transparent, and interoperable digitalisation of the energy system. The paper introduces the collaborative approach and its associated framework architecture and services, illustrating their application on a selected scenario addressing the topic of substation automation. Finally, the initial results are discussed, offering insights into future developments.
