Quality Based Multimedia Framework
Internet Protocols for efficient Transmission with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS)
The intention of this project was to perform research on new Internet protocols for effective transmission of multimedia-flows with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). Extending the traditional Internet service-model (best-effort service) for provision of QoS requires testing and investigation of mechanisms for QoS-negotiation, resource reservation, connection admission control.
The overall objective was to test existing mechanisms where available (RSVP, CAC, … ) and perform research in case existing solutions are sub-optimal (e.g. queue-management in router, test-tools). The result of this broad view on the IPnG topic was the implementation of an IPnG testbed, able to provide the total functionality of the future Internet.
