COVAX – Contemporary Culture Virtual Archives in XML
Development of XML based applications for publication and distributed access to archival records
The objectives of COVAX were to combine XML based metadata and digitised documents from libraries, archives and museums to implement a distributed system for search &retrieval of primary source documents regardless of their physical location. Salzburg Research developed the software to perform XML delivery, transformation and publication of heterogeneous document types appropriate to either user preferences or to the underlying domain of the document. The solution included dynamic transformation of various source metadata into a Dublin Core metadata record.
