ICT Infrastructures for in-house communications ROFCO – Robust Faciltity Communication This COIN project entitled “ROFCO – Robust Facility Communication” addresses research & development for next generation in-building ICT (information and communication technologies) infrastructure. Today’s situation in this research area can be characterised by heterogeneous islands of information and standalone applications, which lack interoperability features and standard conformance. To overcome the shortages of existing solutions, the ROFCO consortium develops an innovative IP (Internet Protocol) based network as standardised, interoperable and robust infrastructure for future in-building communication. Search, retrieval and navigation in audiovisual repositories is a task common to all media asset management systems: Users are supported by a wide range of features which are traditionally based on full text search and metadata queries. In this paper we describe an approach to superimpose a semantic indexing infrastructure over the media assets and the metadata associated with them. The infrastructure is based on formal knowledge models and facilitates the use of further navigation dimensions: By identifying semantic concepts we are able to create a dynamic navigation structure which is based on the underlying knowledge model and the conceptual relations defined therein.

Man muss sich auch die Frage stellen, was für Menschen erstrebenswert ist und was nicht. Fragen wir doch Bäcker:innen, wie schwer sie jemanden finden, der bereit ist, um zwei in der Früh zu arbeiten. In diesen Berufen Erleichterung zu schaffen, ist durchaus positiv zu sehen, weil die Bäcker:innen sonst ihre Kund:innen nicht mehr bedienen können. Das heißt, Jobs werden sich verändern, Anforderungen werden sich verändern, Tätigkeiten werden sich verändern. Nur durch Veränderung wird sich die Menschheit weiterentwickeln. Challenge Broadband is increasingly becoming an infrastructure issue for regional development. Mobile phone providers advertise with “up to bandwidths” of their network – but are these actually achieved? In rural areas in particular, coverage is sometimes insufficient. Thus, residents also complain repeatedly about insufficient bandwidth in the public sector. The federal state of Salzburg therefore needed a neutral, provider-independent database to assess mobile broadband availability throughout the state. This paper presents selected research results of the project “Accessible Sport Regions” and outlines the future (e-)accessibility research initiatives within the e-Motion competence centre. Based on the empirical research, the project establishes a relation between the considerable accessibility market and the relatively small number of current tourists with disabilities in the region of Salzburg, indicating large unexploited potentials. According to experts, even moderate investments in accessible services and infrastructure could yield high returns. A disproportion between the provision of and demand for accessible infrastructure will be discussed. To provide an insight into the nature of measures for an tourism industry accessible to people with disabilities, the barriers from the perspective of tourists with disabilities across the tourism service-chain were analyzed.
