So far the producers of mobility supporting systems have often used little more than fancy packaging and design to reach out to female customers. The underlying software solutions, however, usually have been remained unchanged. Female-specific factors in spatial perception and navigation were either not considered sufficiently, or not at all. This ignores studies that have shown gender-specific differences concerning orientation and strategies of path-finding.

Unter der Bezeichnung „Digital Twin“ werden alle Bestrebungen zusammengefasst, realen Objekten des industriellen Wertschöpfungsprozesses ein digitales Abbild zur Seite zu stellen. Der Prozess dieser Virtualisierung wird dann auch folgerichtig als „Digital Twinning“ bezeichnet. Digitale Zwillinge haben in praktisch allen Phasen des Anlagen-Lebenszyklus vielfältige Anwendungsmöglichkeiten. In dem vorliegenden Bericht haben wir wichtige konzeptionelle Grundlagen von Digital Twins im Anlagen-Lebenszyklus und Beispiele für deren Anwendung und Nutzung in der industriellen Praxis zusammengestellt. Der Fokus der Beiträge liegt einerseits auf Anwendungen in der Entwicklungs- und Inbetriebnahme-Phase (Abschnitte 2 und 3), und andererseits auf der Nutzung in der Betriebs- und Instandhaltungs-Phase (Abschnitte 4 und 5) von Anlagen. Ein Beitrag über die grundlegende Kategorisierung von Digital Twins (Abschnitt 1), die Darstellung relevanter Standards (Abschnitt 6) und ein Literaturverzeichnis (Anhang A) für weiterführende Informationen zum Thema Digital Twins runden den Bericht ab. Download: tandfonline.com This paper reports on a field study comparing navigation performance and user experience of voice, digital map and augmented reality (AR) interfaces for electronic assistance in the context of pedestrian navigation. The in situ study was conducted with two subsequent experiments in the city of Salzburg along a pre-defined route using a self-implemented smartphone application running on Apple’s iPhone 4. The study involved 48 participants aged between 22 and 66 years with different experiences in using smartphones and navigation systems. Navigation performance was measured on a micro-level including information on effectiveness (number and reasons of stops, global positioning system (GPS accuracy), efficiency (walking and task completion time, duration of stops) and satisfaction (NASA Task Load Index, System Usability Scale). There is an urgent need for city administrations and other stakeholders to promote sustainable mobility choices, such as bicycling or public transport, to reduce the negative effects of individual car use. In order to promote sustainable mobility behaviour, digital behaviour change interventions using mobile apps have been suggested as a promising means in this regard. This paper presents a review of 26 urban mobility apps with a focus on the most commonly implemented behaviour change techniques. We conclude that the design of digital interventions could be improved by grounding them firmly in a model of behaviour change. We suggest applying the COM-B model and related behaviour change technique taxonomy in the field of mobility, and we provide examples of how interventions could be designed from this more holistic perspective.

Der Bericht aktualisiert die Ergebnisse der Bedürfnis- und Trendanalyse anhand der in der Szenarienentwicklung gewonnenen Aussagen der ExpertInnen und zeichnet Spannungsfelder und Paradigmenwechsel in der Instandhaltung auf. Daraus werden die Handlungsfelder sowie die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsfragen der Instandhaltung abgeleitet. Der Bericht wird abgerundet mit einem Technologie- und Forschungsradar für ausgewählte Themen der Informations-Integration in der Instandhaltung.

Public Participatory Geographical Information Systems (PP GIS) is a field of research that focuses on the use of GIS by the general public and aims at involving citizens in a decision-making processes. PP GIS applications increasingly use the Internet as a platform for communication and dissemination of information. They link community participation and geographic information in a diversity of social and environmental contexts. In this paper we compare twelve online PP GIS applications and evaluate them according to their usability, interactivity and visualisation. A qualitative expert analysis shows that a highly interactive citizen information exchange platform is the exception rather than the rule. After presenting first results of the study we discuss some directions for ongoing and future work including suggestions for PPGIS evaluation by non-expert users.

Die Digitalisierung der industriellen Fertigungs- und Instandhaltungsprozesse setzt einen hohen Grad an Vernetzung von Anlagen, ihrer Komponenten sowie den sie steuernden Systemen voraus. Industrie 4.0 beruht auf der Integration unterschiedlicher IT-Systeme unter der Maßgabe der betrachteten Geschäftsprozesse und der Phasen des Anlagen- bzw. Produkt-Lebenszyklus. Wenn diese Integration nachhaltig gelingen soll, sind Architekten und Entwickler der Industrie 4.0-Lösungen gut beraten, standardisierte Schnittstellen, Informationsstrukturen und Protokolle zu verwenden. Der Artikel beinhaltet eine Auswahl von (neueren) Standards, die für die Konzeption und Entwicklung digitalen Lösungen für das Asset Management relevant sind.
