694 participants, 145.871 kilometers, and a 41.000 euro donation: The 6th edition of the Salzburg Business Run Charity Challenge, initiated by Commend International and SKIDATA, broke all previous records.

28 teams from Salzburg, including Salzburg Research, took part in the challenge and set off together for a good cause. A total of 694 participants covered an impressive distance of 145,871 kilometers — more than ever before in the history of the Charity Challenge.

Verein Jojo, which supports children and young people in families with mental health problems, will receive a donation of 41,000 euros.

The Salzburg Business Run Charity Challenge

Seven years ago, Wolfgang Zimmel, an IT employee at Commend International, came up with the innovative idea of collecting running kilometers for charity. In 2018, Commend International and SKIDATA developed this idea further and jointly launched the current format of the Charity Challenge under the motto ‘Against one another for togetherness’.

Under the patronage of the Salzburg Business Run and the sports scientists under Michael Mayrhofer, teams from the Salzburg region compete in a sporting event for three months. Every form of exercise counts, be it running, trail running, Nordic walking, walking, or hiking. The competition motivates people to get moving in any form and collect kilometers for a good cause.

Each kilometer covered is rewarded by the participating companies with an annually increasing cent amount (2024: 24 cents per kilometer). The Charity Challenge not only promotes team spirit and health in the workplace but also collects considerable donations for charitable projects — a format that combines sport and social responsibility in a unique way.
