Salzburg Research is lacing up running, walking and hiking shoes – because today is the third time that the starting signal has been given for the annual kilometre duel initiated by Commend International and SKIDATA since 2018 between two teams from different Salzburg companies. Salzburg Research is challenging Findologic this year. The collected donations go to the organization “Herzkinder Österreich”.

With a total of 45,000 kilometers run and a donation result of € 15,700,- the teams set the bar considerably last year. A strong motivation boost for this year’s participants, which includes Salzburg Research and Findologic, Commend International, COPA-DATA, Digital Elektronik, nic.at, Movea, Quehenberger Logistics and SKIDATA.

Participants to the Start!

The proven rules of the Charity Challenge 2020 remain unchanged: from the official starting shot on June 15 to the “finish” on September 15, 2020, the teams of two companies duel each other in a sporting duel for the most running, hiking and walking kilometres. In practice, this means that every employee of the participating organizations – regardless of whether they are a beginner, Nordic walker or marathon runnter – can simply enter or record their kilometres travelled. The kilometres of the participants are collected and tracked via brand new web portal, which can be easily linked to tracking apps or smart watches if required.

In line with the cross-border solidarity in corona times, employees from international branches of the respective companies are also admitted for the first time this year. They can simply register for the competition in a web portal and participate in compliance with global “social distancing”.

The Good Cause

According to 2020, the participating companies sponsor every kilometre of their employees with an amount of 20 euro cents. The non-profit organization Herzkinder Austria has already been chosen as the actual winner. The average mileage per participating employee is decisive for the overall athletic team victory.

Following the mileage hunt of the Charity Challenge, the Salzburg Business Run is again the “Grande Finale”, where the registered participants from Salzburg can once again give their best.

Other Companies Can Still Get Involved

Entering the Charity Challenge 2020 by companies that can only make up their minds later due to the coronavirus crisis or are still looking for like-minded people for a double team is still possible until July 15.

Since it was launched three years ago, the Charity Challenge has seen a rapid increase in running teams that use their legs to serve charitable causes under the motto “Against one another for togetherness”. The Charity Challenge 2020 is supported by the official partners of the Salzburg Business Run Porsche Salzburg, Chamber of Labor, Chamber of Commerce, Salzburg AG Wohnbau and dm.
